@gaslandsnorcal: Achieving that perfect, gritty post-apocalyptic aesthetic isn’t just about the rust—it starts with the base coat. When prepping this wasteland-ready Ford panel van, the choice to go with a lighter Pro-Krill pale yellow under the weathering layers makes all the difference. While darker bases can hide the detail, a lighter foundation allows those rusted, corroded effects to truly pop without needing to fight for visibility. By swapping out standard washes for sepia to build that initial grime, the transformation from clean model to weathered survivor becomes a masterclass in texture and depth. #miniaturepainting #modelmaking #weatheringtechniques #wasteland #scalemodels
