I'm 99.99% convinced that most of the problems that new Linux users face and are enraged by are because they had the bad luck of stumbling on a distro containing the disgusting garbage and horrendous abomination of a "desktop environment" called Gnome

Oh no you had to Google using a new os. I once tried MacOS. I spent more time googling than using the OS. does that make it a bad os?

dont worry you'll just be told youre not using the correct Linux OS followed by 1001 different names. then when you finally find one that kind of works half your game library is no longer compatible but again dont worry cause someday (maybe) itll get fixed.

Linux is not an OS, it's more of an OS factory. Every specific configuration of components qualifies as an OS in its own right. Windows and Mac have only one of each component, so they are one single entity. Linux? You have KDE + systemd + pipewire + Wayland as one configuration. You have Zen-kernel + LxQT + OSS + X11 as another. You have KDE + SELinux + systemd + pipewire + Wayland and SELinux makes everything run differently in all that software.
--
Moreover, people think Linux is built in a company? No. Its source code is made up of tons of people. The kernel has a lot of corporations contributing to it; the UIs have their own communities, specific apps have other communities. Nobody talks to each other. Distributions pick software from all these disparate places, debug and ship them. And they make tons of decisions along the way which may or may not affect your performance, even if it was the same program.
--
That's why people will say you need to try another distribution. Often it's not even that: try a different spin, use an alternative path. It's like complaining about LEGOs because the model you got wouldn't build, then getting frustrated when someone asks "What collection and year are you trying to build?".
--
Linux is a selfish endeavor: it works for you or it doesn't. Nobody is thinking or caring about that; you typically don't pay anything for it nor contribute to the projects in any meaningful way. The world where everything just works I got by purchasing a computer with Linux pre-installed. But people will complain about the price, instead of supporting those that strive to do what they demand.

"Why do I have to learn how to operate things I learnt how to operate in Windows? It's Linux's fault I'm trying it second"
