Nicole Callaham, a 33-year-old former elementary school teacher, is facing multiple charges across two counties — Greenville and Anderson — after a former student came forward with allegations that she groomed and abused him over the course of two years, beginning when he was just 14. After turning herself in last week, Callaham was released on a $40,000 bond for her charges in Anderson County on Friday, 7/11/25. But because the alleged misconduct crossed jurisdictions, she was then transferred to Greenville County, where prosecutors pushed for her to be held without bond. They argued that her behavior showed calculated manipulation, even pointing out that she followed the victim to Greenville after he moved away from Anderson County. During the Greenville hearing, a victim’s advocate read a statement written by the accuser, Grant Strickland, who is now 18 and chose to come forward publicly. He shared that when he first met Callaham, he was “lonely and depressed.” He says she used that vulnerability to gain his trust, describing what began as attention during a school play turning into emotional abuse and long-term trauma. He also claimed that she verbally mistreated him and, at times, said things that caused serious emotional harm. Callaham’s attorney told the judge she is eight to nine weeks pregnant and hasn’t received any prenatal care while in custody. He argued that this, combined with her lack of prior criminal history and her eight-year teaching career, justified bond. It’s important to note: there was no suggestion that the pregnancy is connected in any way to the victim. The judge ultimately agreed to release her on bond with strict conditions, including: - $120,000 total surety bond - House arrest at her fiancé’s residence - GPS monitoring - No contact with the accuser - A required psychological evaluation According to school records, Callaham worked at Homeland Park Primary from 2017 until she resigned in May 2025. Her legal team says she has cooperated with law enforcement and plans to fight the charges in court.
