It’s a popularity contest and has been since the beginning!!! Yes in earlier seasons they were giving more/better feedback but people are gonna vote for who they like and who they connect to. Unfortunately some celebs don’t have the fan base/ don’t connect well and they are gonna go home sooner even if they aren’t the worst dancer. You can be a bad dancer or you can be not popular but you can’t be both and stay long in the competition

Someone came at me a few days ago (calling me embarrassing LMAO) because I said I prefer Dani/ezra and pasha/amber over Jenna/val and Harry/jenna. They’re obviously great dancers, i just don’t connect with the latter two!

Quit with all the theme nights! Like yacht rock night?! What in the world. Go back to the fun stuff like partner swaps or the trios. Every night doesn’t need a theme!! I also liked it when most of them danced the same kind of dance on the same night. That way you can see the clear differences in their technique.

And this probably isn’t an unpopular opinion. But, I think Derek and Julianne should switch spots. She would be a better judge and he would be a better host.

DWTS should get rid of viewer voting. I would rather the judges choose the winner based on a rubric of scores, most improved, technique etc. rather than “voting for your favorites”. A real dance competition rather than a popularity contest.

I don’t know if this is a safe space to say my truly controversial opinion, so I’ll just say they need to bring back those teaching segments where two pros demonstrate a dance style because new people don’t know what they’re supposed to be looking for.

I need them to go back to everyone dancing the same dance or like half danced a salsa and half danced a foxtrot. You can then judge the dancers against each other better AND I hate all the theme nights. Im good with like halloween and disney but wtf is yacht rock and then mariah carey night?

Two big ones: 1. A big chunk of the fandom is so hyper aware of the potential biases for and easier times men can have on the show that they're wholly unwilling to give the men credit for big steps of improvement, quality dances, doing well in dances where the man's job is actually trickier (or at least just as hard) and these fans blind themselves to the ways male pros can dance around and mask female Stars' deficiencies the same way female pros are often accused of doing. 2. In a semi-related note, Derek is far and away the worst judge on the panel right now and pretty much any criticism about Carrie Ann I've seen (inconsistency, favoritism, nitpicky scores, odd comments) is as bad or worse with him. Carrie Ann is at least, for lack of a better term, predictable, as in I can guess which dances will get her emotional, which constestants she'll like, when she'll dock points, etc. Derek it frequently comes out of nowhere.

I loved Alix and Val, but all the Alix fans that have stayed around are toxic towards Jenna and Val. They’re not my front runners by any means but they don’t deserve the hate!

I liked last season with the more lenient scoring and positivity more🫣 everyone seemed happier and less stressed and nervous. And yes I watched the show when Len was on there.

Rylee coming onto the show is one of the reasons why the fanbase has become much more parasocial and toxic. i also dont like the fact she was hired straight outta high school while her other peers have to go through troupe and prove themselves to be worthy of becoming. a pro. I wouldnt be surprised if thats one of the reasons why AJ fiance made the comment she did about her judring the next pro.

I could talk about this all day! 1. I don’t care if few of the celebs have dance experience! It makes it more entertaining to watch, Sabrina Bryan was a perfect example of this. 2. We don’t need to have Bachelor franchise contestant every season. 3. Bring back the Charleston or Lindy hop as regularly competed style of dance! It was always so fun to watch. 4. I know it’s not necessarily unpopular but please let’s retire Disney night! I’d rather see another theme! 5. I also enjoy theme nights and like having some fun ones but we don’t need it every episode.
