This happened on State Route 34 northbound near Naval Weapon Station Earle. He tailed the car. The driver kept weaving between lanes. She turned onto State Route 18 northbound and swerved more. Santoro hit his lights for a stop. The car pulled over. He approached the driver. She turned out to be 26-year-old Angela Forest. Angela said she was driving home from the Falling in Reverse show at PNC Bank Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. While talking to her, Santoro smelled booze. He saw signs she was impaired. She paused when he asked for her papers. She claimed no drinks that night. Still, he suspected trouble. He radioed Patrolman John Kazmac for backup. Kazmac showed up. They had Angela step out. She did field sobriety tests. Kazmac began with the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus test. Next came the Lack of Convergence check. Then the Walk and Turn. Angela missed heel-to-toe touches. She turned wrong. She took too many steps. Last was the One Leg Stand. She didn't lift her foot right. She dropped it too soon. Her wild driving, the alcohol smell, and bad test results led to arrest for DUI. A car search found a Clonazepam pill bottle. Police impounded the Kia for 12 hours under John's Law. They took Angela to Colts Neck Police headquarters. Officers read her the Standard Statement for Drivers. She agreed to a breath test. The Alcotest showed 0.099% BAC, above the 0.08% limit. After processing, they let her go to a sober friend. She had court coming up. The friend signed the liability warning for her. Angela got these tickets: Driving under the influence (39:4-50) Reckless driving (39:4-97) Careless driving (39:4-97) Speeding (39:4-98) Records show Angela's prior DWI arrest. It was July 31, 2022, in Stanhope, New Jersey.
