Everytime my eyes full with tears and I miss them, I settle in to the feeling, and remind myself that this is just how deeply I loved them. Grief, in a strange manner, is a way to still feel them again.

My fraternal twin sister Jolene Elizabeth took her life 11/4/2008. She was 23 years old. My youngest daughter was born 12/2017. I named her Ava Elizabeth after my sister. Before Ava Elizabeth was born, I suffered through 5 miscarriages, one being 18 weeks along. This picture is of Jolene Elizabeth and Ava Elizabeth at the same age. They look more like twins than my fraternal twin and I. They have the same funny mannerisms and mispronounce the same words. I think this is my Twins way of staying with me and I wholeheartedly believe God and Jolene Elizabeth worked together to send me my ultimate rainbow 🌈 baby.

i don’t think it really gets smaller, but we learn to cope with it. i choose to see grief as a privilege because it means you had someone so valuable in your life once.

Grief isn’t always just love. Grief could be the what ifs. Or what you didn’t get answered. My mother was my abuser but I find myself everyday crying thinking of the what it’s and all the unanswered questions
