My sarcoidosis soldier 🫡

if it's any consolation, sarcoidosis isn't usually triggered by shoddy application, but typically more likely a reaction to the ink the first artist used! i have a close colleague (another tattoo artist) who developed sarcoidosis after 5 years of being tattooed, she was able to narrow down an allergy to a specific ink that 1 artist used out of many! honestly she's taught me a lot about the condition, and her doctor told her sarcoidosis can happen to anyone with a genetic predisposition to it or other autoimmune conditions, and the trigger is typically chemical not physical. and no shade at all to the second artist, but if i didn't know my friend i wouldn't know what sarcoidosis is as a tattooer because it's a rare reaction, so he genuinely may not know or have come across this before as he is not a medical professional. fallout is suuuuuper common when you're allergic to an ink even if application is great because your body's immune response is to try to push the allergen out of your system. if you have a nickel allergy or sensitivity to jewelry it more than likely correlates as some inks do have trace amounts of nickel! it's hard to say if he went too deep because the pieces aren't entirely fully blown out where you're having the reaction, so my recommendation would be to ask what ink he used and let other artists know when booking you've had a reaction to this ink! i'm so so sorry this is happening to you, this is literally my worst fear as a tattooer for someone to develop a response post tattoo, i have sarcoidosis and autoimmune disorders as a contraindicative condition on my waiver for this reason because it's so unfortunate and scary. tldr it's probably not the artist, but the ink he used, your best bet moving forward is to identify that as an allergen when going to other artists!

as another tattoo artist. sayin he went too deep is not accurate. your tattoos wouldn't have been so clean and nice immediately after. your whole tattoos look blown out after healing because of your medical issue you didnt know you had. The other tattoo artist probably thought he did because its so blown out from said medical issue. This is in no way the tattoos artist fault. Its not yours either! But passivly slamming an artist for somthing neither of you had control over isnt cool. Then going to him 4 times after 2 reacting badly is a red flag. I hope you get successful treatment for your condition.

Doctors really need to be more careful with how they explain conditions. To often they say "your tattoo is what caused X". This leads people to belive thier tattoo Artist did something wrong. What most Doctors mean is "your new tattoo/opening of your skin, is the likely reason X happened".

Tattoo artist here ✋🏼 If the lines do not go away ever and the lines stay raised, that is he artist going too deep. BUT if the lines raise and go down and itch randomly. Thats an allergy response. Tattoo inks are not regulated by the FDA. So possibly the ink is off brand or a no good brand at all. But also, ink is a foreign substance to the skin. I have tattoos that do the same (all the same on brand ink) only on certain tattoos of mine. I think it’s all a combination.

Months after is almost always the result of your body reacting and that's not something you or the artist are at fault for. There's plenty of reasons why this happens, sometimes the fault of the artist and other times not so much. Especially when allergies come up LONG after the tattoo is healed, it's usually the client's body. You will know if the person tattooing you was heavy handed or went too deep. You can feel it and it is raised almost immediately after application, the lines will be rough and raised within the first week or so. If this is happening down the line over 3 months, it's likely autoimmune or auto inflammatory

a lot of my tattoos did this because i heal tattoos super bad from my auto immune disease 💔 like the middle of the lines will literally just fall out... i wouldn't blame your artist at all this has happened to me with multiple different artists it's just how your body heals things unfortunately.

As Artists we should always get acrylic free ink and always make sure nothing is expired. There are ink brands that go above and beyond and do test/regulate their products.

yea so that’s not anything yall in the comments are saying, this is INK DRIFT. which can happen overtime it is RARE but it does happen. It’s not your artists fault.

hey girl!! don’t be self conscious! this happens to a lot of people because of artists scarring and going too deep… find a good artist, fill up the rest of your arm, and people won’t even notice the blowouts on your other one!! i’m sorry you’re going through this 😔😔

I’m a tattoo artist who also has this happen. I have 3 autoimmune diseases and a mutated gene/ genetic disorder. I think this could be your problem?

As a tattoo artist, he overworked your skin and his voltage of his machine was probably too high and/or he went over lines multiple times

Yess!! Sometimes deeper needle penetration could cause you to have damaged tissue that starts to negatively react to the ink. But be aware of what ink he used, never use that again. Or similar inks, a lot of inks use similar pigments but use different stabilizers.
