a much easier approach (and to avoid having to log back in) just offload the app and reinstall. Settings → General → iPhone Storage → Instagram → Offload App

This happened to me with CapCut. CapCut was taking up over 100GB of my storage. I deleted it and redownloaded and I got like 150+ GB of storage back 😭
