I DO NOT AGREE! Everybody needs to be looking within. Do what works for you. Off they don’t want to be there. Trust they will show you. The picture will keep falling or whatever. I believe that to be for you, which is still a beautiful communication. Our ancestors usually communicate with us for us based on our personal relationships with them or their relationship with us if we didn’t know them in life. Like your uncle communicated with you, ours would communicate just as clearly with us.

I told my grandparents to let me know that they were here and the next day my aunt gave me a photo of them on their anniversary. I immediately put it on my altar. It’s been there ever since.

I asked my daddy if his parents took pictures of them or themselves and he said they didn’t take many pictures which I am a little sad about because I want to see them but respect that there may have been reasons as to why not. My mamas mother did like pictures taken but mama never lets us look at them since she keeps up with all the family photos. I haven’t set up my alter yet but will make a small one I can keep in my truck since I’m a trucker and most likely won’t include pictures just names and a few things they liked…

i remember learning in school a lot of native americans did not like photography bc it felt like spiritual trapping in a way. that always stuck with me also learning that so many of our ancestors do not speak english or align with western culture so we should adjust based on our communications and intuition with them

Welp. This is great timing, I found a pic of my mom earlier/currently in the process of setting up a new alter room. I was going back and forth with putting it i there. Kinda already was feeling like it'd be best not to. I have a mirror of hers I might put up instead. It means a lot to me and feels better than the picture idea lol

When I put my ancestors up on the shrine, that’s when the magic started working on overdrive. I also make sure to invite those who want to help, those who want to be poured into, and those who are on the side of keeping me safe. I ask them to make sure their names and presence is known. Thats why I opted out of pictures. The alter is full of things that are meaningful to me. Every time I go to it I call those willing to aid in my success etc. If necessary I call those not welcome by name and tell them they're not invited. Aka dont listen to Uncle Earl he been shady since I was 5[Tears of joy][Tears of joy]
