@the_30_rule: Every standard you let slip becomes the new standard. That is not a saying. That is just what happens. Let one person come in five minutes late and say nothing, and five minutes late is now the start time. For everyone. You did not announce it. You approved it. The standard is never what is written on the wall. It is whatever you last allowed. That is the math of running a building. You are not setting the bar in a meeting. You set it every time you walk past something and decide it is not worth the conversation. And you are usually tired when you make that call. So here is the practical version, and it is smaller than people expect. Pick one thing. Not twelve. One. Say it is smiling. Everybody smiles when they are talking to a guest. That is the whole initiative. You make it the new standard, then you hold it every shift until it stops being a thing you mention. Micro dosing hospitality is what I call it. Little moves that make a guest feel seen and heard, installed one at a time instead of announced all at once. But here is the part most people skip. Training is not enough. Training gives clarity and a system. It is a tool, not the finish line. The question is always what happens the day after training, when nobody is standing there. That gap is where restaurant leadership either exists or does not. Good restaurant training systems are built for the day after. They assume the reminder has to outlive the meeting. Real hospitality training is repetition with correction, not a video and a signature. Hold one standard properly and the restaurant culture moves, because people learn that what you say and what you accept are finally the same thing. That is when accountability stops feeling like conflict. And your guest experience stops sliding a little every month without anyone noticing. Your best people feel it first. They have been holding a line nobody backed them on, and when you finally back it, they stop looking around. That is where retention starts. You are not enforcing standards. You are choosing them, every time you look away. #restaurantowner #hospitalitytraining #restaurantleadership #restaurantculture

You can talk about all of this, but the business is about the people that work for you… And people have different problems… They come in and bust their butts… But then they have two kids and carproblems because they are living, checked to check… You have to take care of your people on an individual basis… But they have to take care of you too
