my lil sis and I work together. for almost 14 years. she's a risk taker while I'm like your bro. I had my tasks planned out daily, even on days when I feel burned out. no matter what, I have to step up. my lil sis on the other hand, is more relaxed. she does get things done but she will overslept the next day (too much procrastinating in between tasks). when she feels burned out, she will let me know. the reason why we work so well together, is our work ethics. we go to work, to do work. we are also involved in every process of starting a business so any screw up, we will know what to do. most people love the idea of being a boss, but hate to be involved in something that doesn't interest them. they don't care what others are working on.

IDK nothing is really automatic.. I don't have a fixed habit for like anything currently! My life is on autopilot in the way it just does what the heck it wants and I just go with it. Anything planned feels tiresome.

Ok but what about those of us that don’t even want to brush our teeth or shower. I’ve had battles with consistency my entire life. If I’m the one in charge of me, I’ll let everything slide

But wait, what if I DO have debates about that? What if I struggle to remember to do it at all? So, I don’t have any discipline already?

For all the ADHD people out there who struggle with “automated” tasks here is a trick that has helped me….. DO NOT THINK about doing something for longer than that first second. If you think about doing it, you immediately get up or go directly to that task. There’s no decision process. You have to bypass it. And if for some reason you cannot do it in that exact moment, write it down. But you have to STOP THINKING as soon as your brain has the thought, and immediately jump up and do it.

I’ve been looking for a better way to explain how I gave up smoking. It wasn’t a decision that I would quit. It was a shift in how I saw myself. A single decision that was fulfilled automatically without thought afterwards.

I disagree with do it badly. Do it if it feels uncomfortable. It will feel comfortable after a few weeks. Don’t do anything intentionally bad. You will lose discipline that way.

The gym always seemed like punishment because society crammed the “move more. Eat less” bs down our collective throats. You’d kill yourself in the gym all for nothing because you’re not loosing weight. Well, it turns out that you don’t go to the gym to lose weight. You go to gain strength. Gym = strength, kitchen = weight loss. Once I focused my mind this way, going 3 days a week was easy.

He is built different. Yes there is a point after some real effort and push from a person or an outside source that you find your pace and develop rhythms and habits but not every one had the same ability to develop those changes in consistency and schedule. Trying to say 'oh just buckle down' is not the same advice for some people
