@kingnayoproverbs1: The President of the Pre-Tertiary Education Teachers Association of Ghana (PRETAG), King Ali Awudu, has highlighted the financial challenges he says many teachers face despite spending years in the profession. According to Mr. Awudu, he has spent 21 years in the teaching service and has risen to the rank of Assistant Director I, but currently earns about GH¢4,566 per month. His comments have drawn attention to concerns about teacher remuneration and career progression, particularly when promotions do not always result in the expected placement on the appropriate salary scale. The issue comes amid the ongoing nationwide strike by GNAT, NAGRAT and PRETAG, with the unions demanding action on outstanding promotion arrears, salary placement and other conditions of service.
