This song hits me to my core. I’m the only child left in a town we’re not even from but ended up in from a hurricane. My mom died here and I live right up the road from where we lived as kids. My siblings have all left & im still a stranger in this town despite having a family of my own here now. I had my kids at the hospital my mom died in, I bring them to the park my brother use to take me to, & take the road my mom taught me to drive on daily to get the kids to school. There’s so much I lost here, yet so much I’ve built here. That’s what this song feels like everytime I hear it.
