i feel like people grossly misinterpret the intro scene and it makes me upset. the problem steve has isn’t with tony keeping wanda at the compound, it’s the principle of it. wanda maximoff, an enhanced individual from another country is exactly the kind of person that will be hurt by the sokovia accords, as she distinguished as a “weapon,” and not a person. the fact that she was forced to remain at the compound OR be jailed for her actions in lagos ~ actions that saved way more people than harmed, by the way, as moving the bomb off the ground protected all the civilians on the floor level~ is WRONG. wanda doesn’t have the benefits of someone like tony, who can comply with the government and still say “f you” when the rules don’t suit him. (let us not forgot that homeboy, as much as i love him, built a murder bot that caused the deaths of god knows how many people and faced zero repercussions.) steve immediately recognizes this, which is exactly why this conversation started with him saying that if he would support the accords, there would “have to be safeguards.” tony says of course, but then reveals that the government is now targeting wanda specifically. that tells steve that tony doesn’t have enough control over the sokovia accords to be able to create safeguards that would make them less oppressive, which is why THAT MOMENT is his undoing. also, if you’re going to comment that wanda isn’t a kid, please don’t. before they aged her up in wandavision, she was born in 1998, which makes her around 17/18 in civil war, and she is written as such. clint even tells her, “if you want to mope you can go to high school,” indicating that she really is a kid, surrounded by a bunch of people who treat her like a living weapon. but steve rogers never did. he always recognized her as a kid who was hurting and needed guidance and i wish we saw so much more of them. (holy crap i didn’t realize how much i started rambling but if you make it this far comment with a 💍 bc were married now!) ~ FAKE AND ORIGINAL CONTENT. ~ #teamcap #teamcapedit #steverogers #steverogersedit #wandamaximoff #wandamaximoffedit #steveandwanda #wandaandsteve
