@maximalnostalgia: I miss when going somewhere was actually part of the fun. Friday night meant walking through Blockbuster forever because nobody could agree on a movie. Burger King meant sitting down with a tray instead of rushing back to the car. McDonald’s had a giant play place that could turn lunch into an entire afternoon. Even getting a new phone meant walking into a store, looking at all the different models and feeling like you were seeing the future. The 2000s weren’t perfect, but everyday life had a different feeling to it. Places had personality. Stores were busy. Restaurants were colorful. People wandered around without staring at a screen every five seconds. And somehow the most ordinary nights became the memories we’d give anything to experience one more time.
