As an Atheist, I can respect this viewpoint and wish more Christians would have it, however it makes me wonder why he believes in Jesus and God? His only source of information on Jesus being God is the very same “trust me bro” source he’s saying to not trust.

Well if you read the Bible cover to cover in context, you will see prophecy of Christ coming and even his crucifixion anywhere from 2000-500 years before his coming that describe his life, and even down to saying the messiah will be pierced for our transgression. So when we have people for thousands of years saying the same thing until it happened I would say the creator of the universe said to follow him. No other religion can say that because they don’t have thousands of years of prophecy. And fulfilled prophecy at that.
