Honestly for the practical one I recorded myself practicing and reading out loud all of the steps in order and kept rewatching it, I passed with over 90%. And the theory, focus a lot on state law:)

that works for me was watching many videos using different techniques for haircuts, coloring, bleaching, perms etc, and learning at the same time reading and playing quizz with the app (cosmetology), but I suggest best if you have a part time job like assistant with a professional

Sooooo much happened prior to my test, the night before I was studying soo hard and went to bed exhausted that I woke up with 20 mins to get to the center which luckily I was 10 minutes away (stressed I was going to make it) heading to the center still study only 2 minutes away like I can see the center we get pulled over for going 5 miles over the speed limit I was about to cry and my friends mom who was driving me saw how I was,told them to give her a ticket so we can get to the center that I have an exam and I never saw a cop go and come back so quick 😭 ohhh and during the test I dozed off for 3 minutes and I still passed my exam I thought I failed because the way the exam lady handed me it and she looked at me with a disappointed look and when I looked she smiled and went congratulations I wanted to freak out on her cause why do that 😭🤣😭🤣

For the practical don’t forget sanitation and safety!! Thats a huge thing. Go over the steps every single day until you can do them by memory. For theory most state boards in all states tend to focus on laws, infection control, and sanitation. The anatomy, services, etc you’ll do just fine with. You got this!!

For your practical exam, wear gloves as much as possible it sounds ridiculous but trust me, and wipe down before and after everything. they are watching for sanitation. For theory make sure you study on the electrical currents idk why but it was on my test!! Good luck!!

practical- make sure you sanitize. it's like a play! i was so stressed but once i did it after practicing a few times i was good! written- STATE LAWS! go through them, in my state i had to pass a law test to pass my theory. leave the theory you know and study what you don't. i focused on perms and relaxers for mine!

Sanitation and safety no matter what always first. Extra sanitation better if you forget. And quizlet is great for practicing sample question

I’m not sure where you’re located but I’m in Georgia (I’m also a huge book nerd too!) I took my state boards in May. Sanitation and the differences between the FDA, EPA, OSHA, etc are the biggest things to study! Good luck!

My practical was a written practical so I can't help much with that but for theory I studied the cosmetology exam app and kahoots. The cosmetology exam app is like 9.99 for a subscription And then just cancel it right after you pass
