Isn’t this philosophy ultimately a result of classism and gatekeeping of academia. Because, I think Thiel is so confident to say that being evil/competent is actually good, because he has the money and education that he does. In his mind it boils down to “me and my peers are smarter than the general population, we have knowledge they don’t, we know what’s best for them, and we have the ability to enforce it”. It’s basically a fraternity of pretentious billionaires playing god. Thats why they don’t want higher education to be affordable and available to the masses, otherwise they lose their “higher status”

You're making a lot of valid points. I have a problem with the concepts of good and evil. Who really knows what's good or evil? We only know what we like or don't like. Those things being good or evil require more insight than any of us really has. Peter Theil thinks he's being profound, he's really only being vain.

I’m more of the opinion that the meaning of art and philosophy changes based on your personal experience and understanding, it tends to be the case if you look hard enough, you can justify what you wanted to find.

If I am broke, it means I probably had lots of money which I made working really hard, but through poor bisness decisions I lost it all, but that doesn't make me a non productive person it just indicates a definite cash flow issue and an opertunity to improve 😏

you brought up a really good point though. However his goal is that when everyone is immoral with some degree of competency, that will give him a lawlessness society where he is the king. It's a checkmate for him whichever way you want to go. No competition for people like him.

It’s true that US/western society is widely rightwing and supports some of the base assumptions that thiel relies on. One of the founding myths around capitalism is that “greed is good because it’s effective”. Trying to argue it’s “effectiveness” (competency) in its own terms is a losing strategy - any argument that could win support of people must be able to argue both a moral superiority and a concrete ability to be effective in a solid material way

This is like seeing crossover between that like Charlie image where he has all those pictures and like lines of string running to them and a little boy who’s just trying to figure out how to get his dad to love him even though his dad is incapable of love and all he has are thoughts and sentiments of domineering and control and belittling and stuff like that. You’re going a little paranoid. Strauss establishes his rules for interpretation of “secrets” in texts in “Persecution and the Art of Writing.” These are not secret codes only he can understand. These are perfectly legible inside references, tongue in cheek professions of allegiance to orthodoxy, and breadcrumb trails of deliberate “errors” meant to make bright students ask dangerous questions. He also establishes in “Natural Right and History” that “wisdom is unrelated to goodness”, which is a view that has been observed since Plato. Meaning there can be wise evil men, and wise good men. This isn’t controversial & it only causes moral panic among people who are just kind of pedestrian and silly.

The base point your making is wrong tho - what Thiel is doing is evil (in that it will make worse outcomes for me, my children, and every average human, while enriching and empowering himself) not because he is “incompetent” but because he is evil. And critically, everyone knows this! He even knows this! It’s the last defense of the wouldbe-tyrant, the stereotypical argument of the devil and self proclaimed Satan worshippers, and the hopelessly self-interested “actually being evil is good, and being good is evil”. Ultimately a complete nonsensical argument, relying on a complete redefinition of terms and an abstraction of reality to the point of meaninglessness.
