Im a senior in gables right now. Academically its an amazing school. Socially wise, just don’t hang around the wrong people. Go there do your shit and leave. I had to learn the hard way by going through a bunch of unnecessary drama. Just have fun & dont listen to what people say. Focus and pass your tests and you’ll be just fine. AND PLS. GET ALONG WITH ADMINS!! This will deadass help you sm. With officer grtts, Ricky, Martinez be cool w all of them.

I hated my experience at Coral Gables and I was even involved in my freshman year, and I tried my hardest to be a part of everything. I just don’t think it was very focused on students that were IB and to me there was zero school spirit. I transferred to Miami high and I loved it, created a community and there was tons of school spirit, i actually had fun.

dont listen to these comments; gables is probably the most welcoming environment here. don’t do ib tho do aof, join a couple of clubs and befriend your teachers and you’ll have an amazing experience. (the admin are so nice too) only complaint i have is that the counselors are kinda useless but i don’t really think they’re better anywhere else. and if you’re interested in journalism, join a publication :) we have catharsis (a creative writing & arts magazine), highlights (a news magazine), yearbook, cavsconnect )a news website) and gables live :)

also personally to me IB has honestly been the best decision i made academically speaking, AOF yes it looks good but it's honestly useless if you don't plan on doing anything in business. So I would check what your looking for in your future and join an academy that best fits your area of interests

junior here and i know lowkey most of the comments and its honestly true what they say about ib, if you’re coming its best to do ib but it is very difficult like 2/5 kids drop out by the end freshman year or get kicked out sophmore year, but everyone is super friendly so great school to make friends and lots of activities.

don’t go into IB and do the finance academy. IB is a waste of time and the finance academy allows you to do an internship which looks great on your resume. also take as much dual enrollment classes as possible. forget about AP classes. dual enrollment classes will help you finish college faster. as for how to make friends, i don’t know much on that but id try to join clubs and just make convo with people in your classes bc you’re most likely to have classes with the same people every year. oh and take childcare as a elective if you like kids. its an easy class and the kids are cute. cooking is also a great elective. good luck!

If you have a good work ethic, go into IB. It’s not time consuming for no reason because it can literally get u scholarships and into so many colleges as long as u put in the effort. Unless you’re in ib, the school will probably ignore you and not cater as much to you. If u care a lot ab social life and being invited to stuff, you may have to go into the IB program because that’s where all the “popular” and “liked” kids are. Sounds so ridiculous but it’s true
