Kubernetes crash course, in 2 minutes. Kubernetes sounds complicated. Pods, deployments, services, ingress, nodes, clusters. But the core idea is simple: you describe what you want running, and Kubernetes keeps making reality match. Here's the problem it solves. You've got a Node.js app in a Docker container on one server. Traffic grows, so now you need five copies. One crashes at 3am and someone has to restart it. The server dies and the containers have to move somewhere else. Then you need to ship version two without going offline. Every one of those is a human doing it by hand, until it isn't. What's actually in the video: - Cluster: a group of machines called nodes. Some run the control plane (the brain), the rest run your apps. - Pod: the smallest thing Kubernetes deploys. Usually one container inside. - Deployment: you say

- Deployment: you say "5 replicas", Kubernetes creates 5 pods. One crashes, it sees 4, so it creates another. Desired state vs actual state. That's the whole philosophy. - Service: pods die, move, and change IPs. A service is the one stable endpoint that spreads traffic across the healthy ones. - Autoscaling: CPU goes up, add pods. Traffic drops, remove some. - Ingress: app.example.com goes to the frontend, api.example.com goes to the backend. - ConfigMaps and Secrets: config and passwords live outside the image. - Rolling updates: new pods come up, get healthy, old ones get removed. Broken? Roll back. The bit most people miss: Kubernetes isn't really about running containers. Docker already does that. It's about coordinating a whole fleet of them while machines fail, traffic changes, and new versions keep shipping. Save this for the next time someone says "we should probably use Kubernetes" and you want to know what that actually means. Which of these did you already know, and which one finally clicked? Tell me in the comments. #kubernetes #devops #docker #cloudcomputing #softwareengineering
