I often heard that non-Americans hate when we say what city or state we're from because "everybody else in the world just says their country," so I started just responding with "the US" when people would ask me where I'm from, but now, I almost always get "well, obviously. But where?" And when I say Chicago, they almost never know where that is. I recently got "oh, is that by New York?" And they think we're bad with geography. 🙄

i cannot get over the brits saying “oh my god americans are SO bad at geography” and then also “well you can’t expect everyone to know your city.” which is it? QUICKLY. i even had a brit attempt to double down one time and tell me Chicago is not a world-renowned city which… LMFAO OKAY MATE.

Weird cus when I go out of the country, and I say I’m from US, then they ask, oh what state? And then I say Texas, and then they ask me who I voted for 😅 like dam, they be noisy sometimes lol and no I didn’t vote for that bucket of gas

They have a problem with people being precise. If I say I'm from the US the next question is ... where? NY? California? Las Vegas? So, to avoid all the questions I say my city, state and country. If they don't like it, don't ask.
