My mother died when I was 1 yrs old. My brother he was 23 he legally adopted me. I would have went into the system because no one else in my family would step up. He was my hero and I lost him to a heart attack after he beat cancer in 2023 he was my hero. I feel very alone but forever grateful.

I did this. Got custody of my little sister. She was homeless in a car at the time I got her….she came to me with just a bag. Nothing else. I got her when I was 18. I’m almost 22. She’s almost 11. We’ve now moved states. 16 hours away from everyone. New school. Her first ever room. Honestly her first everything. I don’t regret my decision one bit

my brother(14) showed up at my house (23) & told me our mother & her husband had gone to Las Vegas & left him ALONE. he moved in with me & we never looked back. my mother never fought it. he lived with me until he was 21. he's now 30, married, with his first baby in the way. the best decision i ever made was choosing us❤️wishing you both a lifetime of happiness

I work in child protection. Thank you for being a safe adult for her, and offering your heart, home and your life for her happiness. As she gets older words and pictures etc will help her understand the reason you did what you did and why mum and dad couldn't be the ones to raise her. ❤️

Well done! 👏🏻 Finally got mine when she was 12.. Got her back to school, provided a steady, secure and healthy home with my husband.. our girl is now 16, she absolutely smashed high school.. now in sixth form doing her A levels and plans to go to university to get her law degree! 😍😍 She’s had the most amazing teenage years, she had everything and was/is everything I wished I had/could be during mine.. I wasn’t able to finish high school .. was pulled out at 13 and raised my sister when she was born.. Ive done well for myself as an adult but I’m so thankful that she’s going to do better and have even better than me! 🥹😍🩷 You’ll feel immense pride in everything she accomplishes in life knowing it was you that helped her get there!

We got custody of my husband’s little brother who’s on the spectrum, from his addict father. (His father passed away a year ago). Even through all of the battles we wouldn’t have changed it for the world❤️

I have had kinship of my baby brother since he was 2, he’s 11 now. Best thing I’ve ever done. Our mum is no longer here and dad doesn’t bother with him so he sees us as his parents. He’s the best boy and thankfully no memory of his life before living with us. Can’t imagine my life without him being here ❤️
