All the animals are fine. Except for grizzlies. Be very very cautious. If I knew a grizzly was in the area I would nope my way out of the area

We Americans have the safe shocks. I'm from Iowa and the thought of wildfires and bears freaks me out lol. But! People from other parts of the country say the same to me about tornados.

This is what makes America and Americans, what we are. We live our whole lives, with the unknown. You either embrace it, use it, and charge forward, or you let it cripple you.

There's a really big network of seismometers and other sensors in the Pacific Northwest that monitors all the volcanos that will give ample warning when one starts getting ready to erupt. The thing I fear the most in the PNW is the inevitable Cascadia megathrust earthquake. There won't really be a warning for that and all we can do is make our buildings earthquake resistant.

Volcanos give warnings before they get spicy and volcanologists monitor those mountains constantly. The wildfire signs are mostly there to tell you to pay attention to warnings before you go into certain areas.

I love your sociological observations! Now that you mention it, you’re right that accepting risk is part of American culture.

Oh this isn’t a British vs American thing. Lots of Americans think like what you’re explaining. Ask native Californians how they feel about Florida or tornado alley and vice versa. Tons of non Californians are irrationally afraid of earthquakes.

I remember sitting in the VMware headquarters office in Broomfield Colorado watching the wildfires come up over the Foothills back in 2011. no one panicked, we were all just complaining about the smoke smell.

Whenever you go to the Oregon Coast, don't just hike out on the rocks in the ocean. People get swept away by sneaker waves. Be aware.

That sign is about the potential to start a fire not a fire that's happening. It means don't do anything that could potentinally start a fire. No grills, no camp fires/stoves, don't toss cigarette butts out,
