@dramitabhkulkarni: Beer does not have any special property to dissolve or flush out a kidney stone. What happens is that alcohol suppresses a hormone called ADH, which normally helps the kidneys control how much water you lose through urine. When this hormone is suppressed, you produce more urine. So when you urinate more, you feel that the stone may pass. If it is a small stone, yes, you can increase your fluid intake to help with urine flow, but it does not have to be beer. That is not a logical approach. The increased urination from beer is mainly because of the fluid and the diuretic effect of alcohol. Beer is not the reason the stone passes. I usually tell my patients: plain water is enough to keep you hydrated.
