I don't know what kind of life style you are all wanting to live .who wants to go big overseas travel, give my money to kids and who needs a big posh car at the age of 67 plus? Im fkn tired, i don't want to drive anymore, simple small things in retirement are all I need. The odd outing, the odd local getaway, a good pub meal and some real friends. Most of us GEN X have worked hard jobs for over 50yrs,we are tired, I want every single entitlement and money from the government that I can get !!! I,ve paid taxes for 50yrs, I want returns !!You still pay tax on your superannuation, you get no concessions at all , pay top dollar for everything. If you own your home, living off $1300pfn and receiving all the concessions as well as having $200,000 in compound interest every 3 months and use the interest as topper, repeat cycle,it's called budget. All depending on GEN X situations may not have been able to get that amount of super together, especially GEN X women who were in and out of work, raising children, then divorced.

Watched my mum retirement plan her whole life and work work work adding an extra 10% per pay. Retired and died 4 years later. My take on life is now different

Don't need a list champ. Just one point. Your super will continue to compound after you retire. A Pension does not.

I always thought the goal was save as much as you can and not be on the pension.

You are correct Billy, however a recent divorce wiped out my super completely. I am thinking (as I still work part time) is to buy shares, riskier, but at 0$ savings, I don’t want super fees to erode earnings. Once I hit $10,000 in savings, then invest in super

People who think less super is better are the same people who think earning less is better because you pay less tax 🙄

people don't realise the boomers and old gov people will ruin the aged pension over the next ten years as they all suck that tit tax money dry to support there retirement and by the time us that are only 30 get to "aged pension age" it won't exist I can almost garentee it

I never had super and I've been retired for 14 years, full pension and I cruised the Mediterranean earlier this year and spent Christmas in Tassie. Cruising New Zealand in November. Cruising British Isles next May. Previous years have done expensive tour of WA. Done the Budapest to Amsterdam river cruise with side trips and toured NZ previously. I cope quite well, don't need millions. Oh, bought a new house three years ago.

I have to disagree with this bloke, he probably works for a super fund or the government. Once everything is paid off you don’t need a lot live very easy spend your money then go on the pension

I’m tracking for about $1.4 mill in super but still will have to rent forever so it’s not as fabulous as it sounds anymore. Super was built on the idea that you would own your home or close to it by the time you retire. [Teary eyed]

You can not have 30000 in super and get full pension . Financial deeming rates centerlink went up on 20 th September your only allowed 185000 . I have 205000 in super have lost 38 in pension . People keep saying it’s 330000 assets . It’s true but it can not be all financial 333000 that’s a ridiculous thing to advise people financial is the above and deeming rates have gone up . So please speak truth .
