The Quran states that the Ark of Nuh (Noah) was preserved as a historical and physical sign for future generations. In Surah Al-Qamar (54:13–15), it describes the ship and says: "And We left it as a sign, so is there any who will remember?". This is repeated in Surah Al-Ankabut (29:15), where God says: "We made it a sign for all the worlds", and in Surah Al-Haqqah (69:11–12), where it is described as a lasting reminder. According to Surah Hud (11:44), the Ark specifically came to rest on Mount Al-Judi (in modern-day Turkey), and classical Islamic scholars (such as Ibn Kathir and Qatadah) noted that the ship was left intact on the mountain for a long time to be seen and discovered by later generations.
