@cjustastick: Indonesia’s Chromebook corruption case has taken a new turn after the Jakarta High Court upheld former Education Minister Nadiem Makarim’s conviction, while reducing his sentence from 10 years to 9 years in prison. The court 'found' that the 2020 - 2022 Chromebook and Chrome Device Management (CDM) procurement caused around Rp1.57 trillion in state losses, while Nadiem continues to deny wrongdoing and says he will take the case to the Supreme Court. But the ruling has now put Google under the spotlight. The judges said Nadiem should be responsible for 35% of the losses, Chromebook providers for 15%, and Google for 50% (around Rp783 billion or roughly US$44 million ), citing benefits from the use of ChromeOS and CDM licences. The court also recommended that prosecutors investigate Google and other companies involved, meaning the wider Chromebook corruption case could continue even as Nadiem prepares his next legal challenge.
