In some cases, maybe. However men are raised to the assumption that if we can’t solve problems and fix what is wrong we have no value. As a result, because of that upbringing we go for solutions where you may only want a sympathetic ear. The irony is that mostly it’s mothers who teach their sons this, because they want their sons to be someone women can depend on. A good thing, but in a lot of cases taken a bit too far.
