15 years ago when I started COTA School, my first assignment was to write down how to make a peanut butter and jelly sandwich and when I tell you that my mind was absolutely blown by how intricate that task becomes, especially when you’ve had an illness or an injury or you can’t use your hands or you don’t have the processing or the visual motor skills to read those directions and actually make the sandwiches it was stunning and now as a occupational therapist, I teach that to every student I’ve ever encountered and the minute that I explained that concept the lightbulbs go off and everybody seems to understand exactly why we’re here and exactly what we do. Believe me when I tell you, it will help you when your documentation.
