Generation X is usually defined as people born roughly 1965–1980. Their parents were commonly: Silent Generation (born ~1928–1945): raised a large share of Gen X, particularly those born in the 1960s and early 1970s. Baby Boomers (born ~1946–1964): increasingly became the parents of younger Gen Xers, especially those born in the mid-to-late 1970s. Some older Gen Xers also had parents from the Greatest Generation. So if you had to pick one generation that most characteristically raised Gen X, it would be the Silent Generation, not the Boomers.
