@absoluteleo10z1: The Toungoo Empire was one of the most powerful kingdoms in Southeast Asia. It was based in present-day Myanmar and reached its peak under King Bayinnaung (1551–1581). King Tabinshwehti started the major expansion of the Toungoo Dynasty, while Bayinnaung expanded it much further. At its height, the empire controlled or dominated large parts of Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, and nearby regions. In 1569, Bayinnaung's forces captured Ayutthaya, the capital of the Ayutthaya Kingdom. The empire was maintained through tribute, alliances, military power, and local rulers who recognized Bayinnaung's authority. After Bayinnaung died in 1581, the empire gradually weakened and many territories regained independence.
