The Swatis — a Pashtun tribe whose name became the name of an entire valley. 🏔️ Long before this land was known simply as "Swat," it belonged to a tribe that ruled it as their own. The Swatis didn't just settle in these mountains — they conquered them, built their kingdom here, and made this valley theirs. For over 300 years, they held unbroken rule over Swat, Malakand, and Dir. Their influence didn't stop there — from 1339 to 1561, Swati kings extended their power all the way to Kashmir, ruling it for more than two centuries. But history moves. In the 16th century, the Yousafzai tribe rose and pushed into Swat. The Swatis didn't disappear, though. Some moved on, carrying their name and their bloodline into new lands. Others stayed — and their descendants still walk these same valleys today. The story didn't end in Swat, either. In 1703, under the leadership of Sa'adat Khan Swati, the tribe didn't just settle in Hazara — they took it, carving out a new region for a new chapter, while staying true to the same bloodline. And when Sikh armies later came for these lands, the Swatis didn't stay silent. They fought — because resistance has always been part of who they are. Today, the Swati tribe's legacy lives on — in Swat, in Hazara, in Mansehra, Battagram, and Torghar. A history of 400+ years, still walking these mountains. #pathan #History #edit #foryoupage #depthstyle
