Here is a question do you think teenage boys growing up in this generation is safer than teenage daughters? Just curious because when you say let your son get a train at this age, there is no way I would let my 14 year old daughter travel on a train into say the city I live in, it’s too much, but that said I would happily drop her into the city, let her have a day out with a group of friends and then pick her up after.

When you raise your child without fear or being too strict, there's a very good chance they WILL trust you, and tell you when they genuinely need help or think somethings off/wrong about this certain thing. I've seen it as a constant pattern but I know people who were more scared to ask for help because they were afraid that they'd get punished or scolded rather than the problem they were facing at hand.

I treat my 14 year old like this but with the exception of his phone in his room overnight on school nights. He has been on his phone at 3-4am previously on school nights so I had to put my foot down with that

At what age did you start giving him this kind of freedom? My son is 10 so we are coming up to high school and I want to have a good balance of us teaching him and keeping him safe but also home being able to do it himself
