@good.think12: South Korean scientists have developed a promising experimental approach that could push colorectal cancer cells back toward a more normal state instead of simply destroying them. Researchers at KAIST used a computational model of gene networks involved in healthy colon-cell development and identified three key targets — MYB, HDAC2 and FOXA2. Suppressing all three together caused cancer cells to shift toward a normal-like intestinal-cell state, while pathways linked to uncontrolled growth became less active. The approach was tested in colorectal cancer cell lines and also showed anti-cancer effects in animal models. The research is still experimental and is not yet a treatment available to patients, but it could open a new direction in cancer research focused on changing cancer-cell behavior rather than only killing the cells.
