@boss_1212121: HIV AWARENESS IS NOT OPTIONAL. IT IS A NECESSITY. With 218 reported HIV cases in BARMM, including 77 students, 200 individuals categorized as having multiple partners, and 192 MSM (men who have sex with men), we need to take HIV and STI awareness seriously. As an HIV advocate, I believe it is time for BARMM to strengthen and open more campaigns on HIV and STI awareness, especially in Senior High Schools and among young people of legal age. Our youth deserve access to accurate, age appropriate, and science based information about HIV transmission, prevention, testing, and treatment. We cannot continue to remain silent about HIV. The lack of awareness, stigma, and misinformation can prevent people from getting tested and seeking treatment. HIV education should not be a one time activity or something we only discuss when cases increase. It must be a continuous effort in schools, communities, and health facilities. Awareness saves lives. Education prevents transmission. Early testing and treatment make a difference. As an advocate, I call on BARMM leaders, the Ministry of Health, local government units, schools, and community organizations to invest in regular HIV and STI awareness campaigns and accessible, confidential testing services. Let us protect our youth through education, not silence. Let us replace stigma with understanding and discrimination with compassion. Because every number represents a human being, a family, and a life that deserves care, dignity, and protection.

This should not be only inclusive for those who are mentioned, but also to the babies who might get it from their mother, kids of any age that might experience molestion/abuse, and unsafe use of sharp objects when administering injection/wound treatment etc.

The fact that those numbers only belong to those who are tested, how many more are there if all of us in BARMM are tested? 😭

Kaya nakakatakot din magpakasal kapag dimo alam yung history nung guy/girl, sana nga hindi lang dowry ang implement naten kapag ikakasal, medical record nadin both side sa mga ikakasal. SubhanAllah! for safety nadin. Alam naman naten sobrang delikado at nakakamatay itong sakit.

This! We can actually work on advocating for HIV awareness, but the bigger problem is the stigma within our community.
Anyone who tries to educate themselves or speak openly about HIV can immediately be judged—“Baka exposed ka,” or “May kakilala ka bang may HIV?” As if being knowledgeable about HIV automatically means you’re sexually exposed or personally affected by it.
And that’s exactly the stigma we need to challenge. Knowing about HIV doesn’t mean you have it. Talking about it doesn’t mean you’re exposed. Sometimes, it simply means you care enough to be informed.

I think they'll turn a blind eye to it lalo na at msm pa karamihan... and it looks like those youth na nag positive ay probably are taken advantage of their ignorance about safe s*x or napilitan to do raw s*x by people way older

That’s why you guys should communicate openly with each other. Ask about each other’s health history, get tested regularly for STIs, including HIV, and make sure your vaccinations are up to date. If you’re not ready to take the risks that come with s*x**l activity, abstinence is always an option. Most importantly, practice safe s*x, respect each other’s boundaries, and make responsible decisions together

Well said.so much has already been done. Testing is far more accessible now, treatment is free, and countless lives have been supported and helped. And you know what? The rising numbers also show something good more people are being reached, getting tested, and receiving the care they need real progress is happening.
But we can’t stop here. Theres still more to do. And remember anyone can spread awareness. It starts with each of us right here within ourselves. We begin by educating ourselves by letting go of judgment and by choosing kindness. We need to keep sharing the right information, keep breaking down stigma, and keep showing up with acceptance. Every single person deserves love, care, and dignity. Thank you so much for standing with us in this.
