just want to make clear I am not defending or in any way supportive of his response. he is angry because he feels you have lumped him into those other males. he feels threatened and insecure but you should ditch him because if his first response was anger, violence and defensiveness then he is not mature enough to reflect on this horrifying crim that has happened. if he were an actual decent male then his first thought to this would be reflective and supportive. Unfortunately, it can take a lot for some men to fully see your (womens) perspective, because it is so far removed from our reality. So many of us just don’t get it because we are coming from the perspective of always having enjoyed feeling safe, strong, secure and being frankly blind to what women really go through. So without the motivation to educate ourselves, (which in my opinion is sparked by individual human empathy for others), we remain feeling attacked and angry when topics like this are put to us. The first reaction is, not all men, or I would beat them up etc. They feel attacked because you reference “men”.
