@aviationnetworkng: Ever wondered why ground crew sometimes put this long support under the tail of an airplane? 👀✈️ It’s called a tail stand. When an aircraft is on the ground, its weight distribution can change as passengers and baggage are loaded or unloaded. If too much weight shifts toward the rear while the aircraft is lightly loaded, the aircraft’s center of gravity can move aft. That’s where the tail stand comes in. 🛠️ It provides additional support and helps prevent the tail from dropping too far or the aircraft from tipping backward during ground operations. ✈️ So that little support isn't there for decoration — it can be an important part of ground safety.
