Recipe: 🔥🇭🇹 Traditional Haitian Pikliz Ingredients: * 1 small green cabbage, or 1/2 large cabbage, very thinly shredded * 2–3 large carrots, grated * 1 medium yellow onion, very thinly sliced * 3–6 Scotch bonnet peppers (or habanero peppers), thinly sliced * left whole if blending in the liquid mixture * 2–3 tsp salt, or to taste * 3 Maggi cubes * Juice of 6–8 limes * Juice of 4–6 lemons * 2 cups of white vinegar Note: If you prefer a stronger citrus flavor, use a little more lime and lemon juice and slightly less vinegar. If you prefer a tangier vinegar flavor, do the opposite. Instructions: 1. Thinly shred the cabbage using a knife or vegetable peeler. Rinse under cold water, drain well, and shake off as much excess water as possible. Place in a large bowl. 2. Wash and peel the carrots, then grate them using a box grater. Add to the bowl. 3. Peel the onion, cut off both ends, thinly slice it, and add it to the vegetables. 4. Wash the Scotch bonnet (or habanero) peppers, thinly slice them. Add them to the bowl. * Leave them whole if you’re blending it with the liquid mixture. 1. In a blender, combine the lime juice, lemon juice, white vinegar, Maggi cubes, and salt. Blend until the Maggi cubes have completely dissolved. (Add scotch bonnet peppers or habanero if you are blending it) 2. Pour the mixture over the vegetables and toss well until everything is evenly coated. 3. Pack the vegetables tightly into clean glass jars, making sure the liquid covers the vegetables as much as possible. 4. Seal the jars and refrigerate. Note: The pikliz is crunchy at first, but after 24–48 hours the cabbage will naturally release moisture, creating more liquid and be softer. Serve With: * Griot * Fried yuca * Tassot * Fried fish * Fried chicken * Marinad * Accra * Banann peze (fried plantains) * And many other traditional Haitian dishes. Enjoy! 😊 #haitianfood #pikliz #EasyRecipe #foryoupage #explorepage✨
