@mariasten02: A pinch me moment! ​I moved to New York City two days after I turned 18, with two bags, a pair of sneakers, a lot of sweatpants and dreams of being a performer. I remember sitting on a terrace in Brooklyn Heights one night, looking across the water to the Statue of Liberty and all of Manhattan, thinking wow, I'm here. let's do this damn thing. ​I never visited tourist sites like the Empire State Building cause I was busy. I didn't sleep. I worked a lot. I trained a lot. I ate a lot of corner store bagels for breakfast and dinner cause they cost about a dollar back then...
