ok explain this ..in the 80 and 90 installed 100 water heaters ..not one expansion tank ever ..now we're in the 2000 era and magically..presto change O we now by code are required to install them ..when we never needed them...😎❤️😂😂😂

It’s because someone can pump chemicals into the city water system from their home and hurt millions of people, and to prevent this they require check valves to be installed, which made it the close system and has your water heater heats up the water expands it has nowhere to go. The code for a expansion tank started in 2002

be careful most plumbers don't actually pressurize, the expansion tank only charge you 500 to install one

Most houses and applications for an expansion tank for a water heater is not needed only if a pressure reducing valve or a check valve is in the cold water main valve. Or if a pressure vessel is installed with a pressure booster tank, any other reason is b*******, know this.
