During a mission in the middle of a war, everything changed. While trying to rescue Rin, the team was caught in a cave collapse. Obito was crushed under the falling rocks, and in what seemed to be his final moments, he gave Kakashi his Sharingan eye as a gift, asking him to protect Rin. That moment shattered Kakashi’s rigid beliefs. For the first time, he truly understood the value of sacrificing for others. But tragedy struck again not long after. Rin was captured and turned into a weapon by enemy forces. A tailed beast was sealed inside her, and the plan was for her to return to the village and unleash destruction. Realizing the danger, Rin made a heartbreaking decision. She chose to die to protect the village. In a devastating moment, she stepped directly into Kakashi’s attack, ending her life by his own hand. This event completely broke him and filled him with overwhelming guilt. After losing both Obito and Rin, Kakashi became emotionally distant. He joined the ANBU, a secretive black-ops unit, where he carried out dangerous missions with cold efficiency. He seemed detached from everything, as if he had buried his emotions deep inside to escape the pain of his past. Years later, Kakashi’s life took another turn when he became the leader of a new team: Naruto Uzumaki, Sasuke Uchiha, and Sakura Haruno. Through teaching them, Kakashi slowly began to heal. Naruto’s determination reminded him of Obito, and being around his students helped him reconnect with the values he once lost. He started to emphasize an important lesson: those who abandon their friends are worse than trash.
