They'll return to Judge William Sullivan's courtroom at 9 a.m. EST on Friday (August 28, day 10) to continue deliberating. "It's been a long day for everyone, and so what I'm going to do is excuse all of you till tomorrow morning, 9 o'clock." Many people in the comments on social media ask why the jurors aren't sequestered. I don't often see sequestered juries except in some Southern states such as South Califonria, where jurors will deliberiate into the night and be put in hotel rooms if they need to continue the next day. Judge Sullivan admonished jurors not to discuss the case or read anyhting about it. "I just want to, as you can imagine, want to reiterate those instructions. Now you are either deliberating jurors or alternates, possibly to deliberate. So I can't stress it even more than I have for the last five weeks." "Don't read anything about this case. Don't talk about this case with anyone, even at home. Don't listen to anything. Just put this out of your head." "Come back here tomorrow morning. We'll start at 9 o'clock. What'll happen is we'll have you commit. I'll bring you in. I'll ask you those questions. I'll just turn you right around and have you back deliberating." "Alright. And so with that, my thanks to everyone. Excuse you till tomorrow morning." Eighteen jurors heard testimony in the 22-day trial, which opened on July 27. Twelve are deliberating after Sullivan's clerk randomly selected six to be alternates. Reporters at the courthouse say the jurors are nine women and three men, and the jury foreperson is an older woman. Clancy, who recently turned 36, is charged with three counts of murder for the strangulation deaths of 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson and 8-month-old Callan on Jan. 24, 2023, at their home in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Jurors can consider manslaughter as a lesser included offense to murder. Her defense is that she's not guilty because she was psychotic due to postpartum problems and didn't know what she was doing. #law #crime #court
