1. I am not some HUGE account. I posted a pet peeve I had when getting report. It’s MY pet peeve. Why? Because it’s simply impossible. I didn’t expect it to blow up. So please, don’t make it seem like I knew this was going to have the reach it did. 2. There is a way to report this without lying about your assessment. I understand being close to the patient, this is something I had not considered before posting this. So, a part of me understands. But I still stand by my original statement. EMS calling and stating the cc and then proceeding to give me YOUR assessment is DIFFERENT then what I’m referring to. In my state, report is called in on a recorded line. Everything said to us is legally binding IF there was ever a lawsuit. So telling me one thing, because you’re talking in code to appease the patient, is not justifiable. Report as cc syncope, on assessment pt had NEAR syncopal episode with no LOC. This is a total factual statement, and not what I’m referring to. When pts call stating they are having a heart attack, is that called in as a heart attack? Or are we giving symptoms with supporting data? This is the same concept. 3. I have absolutely ZERO beef with EMS. I LOVE my EMS crews. We all have a place in the system. I could never roll up on scene to a family taken in a crash, but y’all do. It takes a special person. So, thank you. We are ALL allowed to have pet peeves. THIS is one of mine. It’s a reporting error, not an “I hate EMS” issue.

If she has that much beef with EMS then maybe she should go to a different floor if she doesn’t like us because that’s dealing with a lot with us.

My question is, what are they going to do any different whether the patient passed out or not?! As a nurse, what’s going to change? I still have to triage and give report and the doctor still has to see them before orders are put in, so just take the report and let us clarify upon arrival.

Then trying to tell us how to do our jobs like we're not locked in a box with someone that is going to get highly upset with us if we say NEAR syncope. Ma'am, I've literally had a pt unbuckle themselves and try to come at me while screaming bc 'I didn't believe them' and 'I'm lying'. I'm gonna stay in my lane, she should stay in hers with her very controlled environment and multiple staff around to help intervene when a pt gets aggressive.
