Our household is vegan, full stop. If my kids want to get meat when they're older, they'll have to buy it with their own money and eat it out of the house.

I truly don’t know why this is such a hot take. At our house I’m pretty much the only one that really cooks and people will always be like. “poor *partner* you won’t cook meat for him?” like first of all this man will eat up whatever I’m cooking because I’m a good cook. Second of all I’ve been vegetarian since I was a teenager. I don’t even know how to cook meat. Also, I like to try my food as I cook it to make sure it taste good. How am I supposed to do that if I don’t eat meat? It’s so weird to me because it’s like I’m not forcing anybody to not eat it. I’m just choosing not to make it myself.

I only cook meat for my animals. My foster dog was sick and I had to cook him plain chicken and it grossed me out so bad

Genuine question, and I don’t mean this in a hateful way because I’m vegan too, but if you believe eating animals is wrong, how does it work having a partner who eats meat? I’m just confused by vegans who have an entire platform advocating against animal consumption while dating someone who still consumes animals. If you’re comfortable with that in your own relationship, what’s the line when you’re telling other people they should change their behavior?

I don't want animal meat, eggs, or dairy cooked in the house. That would be unacceptable to me. Don't even want to have those ready to eat foods inside either, and it's due to the smell, not that I'm tempted.

one thing people think I'm an asshole for doing is not picking up the tab if someone ordered something with animal products. Every time I invite someone to eat I explain I'll pay if they order vegan, 9 out of 10 they order something not vegan and get mad when I say I will not pay for that.

It’s also like, I don’t trust myself to cook meat anyways. Even if I felt it were ethical (I dont), I would have no idea how to prepare meat of any sort.

Would you cook with eggs or dairy for other people? Just curious. But i don’t blame you if you do not. You probably show people so many amazing vegan foods. I find baked goods are easy to find good vegan recipes

I will not cook touch it or even buy it. Obvi my dog isn’t vegan but i even stopped buying cream cheese for him to take his meds in because giving money to these companies at all defeats the purpose

I feel like this is totally fine? like as a non-vegan I always make dishes that have animal products and I wouldn't make a vegan dish bc I probably wouldnt like it. So I feel like its perfectly acceptable for a vegan to do the same but with their dishes

hii! i've been vegan for a few months but i'm 19 and still live with my family! when my mom has work events she has me cook for my little siblings and i have no intention of converting them to veganism but i really can't stand cooking meat for them and they're already so picky, i just don't know how to go about a solution with my family
