This is so common, I see employees ignore this debt only to start panicking years later when they leave employment and seek a TCC for something they are doing then boom they have a liability they don't understand 😁

unfortunately when you go KRA they tell go to your tax station i.e My tax station is Mombasa and I'm in Nairobi when you go to Nairobi offices they tell you go to your tax station in Mombasa they can't do reconciliation in Nairobi

why should you? why cant KRA do the reconciliation without involving the employee. this is more of a system improvement from KRA. All amounts should fall into individual accounts by them doing reconciliations. Drive the course of KRA improving their systems without further involving the employees.

another issue is multiple employment where the primary employment and secondary employment are treated the same not considering that secondary employment does not qualify for the 2400 relief and the tax is taxed at a flat rate of 35%

its called principal tax and it results from. 1. incorrect filing 2. employer did not remit 3.employer remited but not reconciled mostly govt employes bcoz payment was done through ifmis.
