People really don’t understand our field. They think of social worker as case managers only. I know several social workers making over 80k a year. Yes you need a masters, but that’s the case with many fields.

They aren't getting rid of loans, but they did set a hard $100k lifetime cap (and $20,500/year max) for federal grad loans in social work. Because of this, you must strategize. Get a BSW first so you can do an Advanced Standing MSW, which cuts grad school down to just one year. And always choose state schools over private to keep costs under that ceiling.

And I wish everyone would stop saying we don’t make money that’s false. The lowest paid area is child welfare which is state based. No matter how much we get paid we ALWAYS have a job. Most of these other degrees can’t even get a job out of college but worried about us and our pay. When the world relies on us.😐

My question is, why do other countries are able to provide free/low cost higher education, but us being the “greatest country in the world” treat our students like garbage and love to see others struggle(?) like??? I’m going to school to HELP THE COMMUNITY, this is why we’re wanting to leave, WHY CAN’T MY TAXES FUND EDUCATION AND HEALTHCARE FOR EVERYONE INSTEAD OF A DAMN WAR?

Because the cost associated with the degree does not make sense for the pay someone makes. Hopefully prices will come down or pay will go up

to this day they don’t even understand what SW is and the versatility. LMSWs in my area start at 80k and LCSW average 6 figures ts is pmo tbh
