@retro__cut: Lady Gaga — “Bad Romance” (2009). “Bad Romance” arrived at the perfect moment, taking the theatrical world Gaga created during The Fame and pushing it somewhere darker. The white bathhouse, red lace outfit, razor-blade sunglasses, and instantly recognizable choreography made the video impossible to look away from. Directed by Francis Lawrence, the visual follows Gaga as she’s kidnapped and sold before ultimately taking back control. Even with that dark storyline, the huge chorus and RedOne’s production made it pure pop. Gaga gave Alexander McQueen an early version of “Bad Romance” for his Plato’s Atlantis runway show.
