After asking someone on a date, I would arrange the first date, often a pub with live music, I prefer live music to DJ or jukebox and I tell them so they knew what to expect if I saw them again. If I enjoyed the date I told them that I really enjoyed it and if they felt the same then they should call me, so no pressure on them, if they called great and if they didn’t no problem. After that if we continued seeing one another I would always ask when they were available or when it was convenient and we took it from there. My late wife refused to see me at the weekend for nearly 6 months because she refused to stop seeing her friends until she was sure about me, then we alternated between a weekend with her friends and then a weekend just us, any midweek date was just us. It worked for us. We were together for 41 years.
