His teachers gives him the words?? My sons school doesn’t give out the words to study because they don’t want them to “memorize” like tf are they supposed to do to learn how to spell 🤨😑

These are great ideas! I have been asking him how to spell his words every morning while we are waiting for the bus and I feel like it’s helped him so much, he always gets 100%

Yes, I have been doing this since 5K. Son is in 3rd grade and he writes his 20 spelling words 4 days per week. Then write it in a sentence. He learns how to spell those words by the end of the week. Also, when he was younger we used those magnetic letters and I had him unscrambled the words on some days instead of writing it. But now that we are in 3rd grade writing is a priority.

I tell people all the time, it’s starts at home with kids learning. What they learn at home also helps in school.

This is amazing!!!! If he wants something different, he can always spell the words in sand, shaving cream or something like that…we also did “bath math” during Covid which is writing in dry erase markers in the shower (we happen to have white tiles!) so he could do that with the words! Or chalk outside if you have concrete available! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

If your child has a spelling test coming up and you want to give them another way to practice and remember their words, try SpellingTraining.com! You can enter their spelling words, and it turns them into fun games. There are so many free websites out there compared to apps—I think people have forgotten websites exist haha 😂

I see a lot of people suggesting online practice, and I’m sure that can be helpful too, but honestly I think what you’re doing is great! Especially at this age, actually writing the words helps with spelling, recall, and handwriting skills. He’s not just learning to recognize the right answer on a screen, he’s learning to actually produce it himself. You’re doing a great job! 👏

Magnetic tiles can be used with washable marker or expo. One letter per tile and he can “build” the words.
