maybe im not as good of a person as I think i am but playing Arlecchino's story quest and finding out what happens to the kids that want to leave just made me think "wow this proves she isnt a pure evil child abuser and she actually cares for the children" like, I dont understand how people use that as evidence that shes a bad person. she finds a way to make the wishes of the children come true without jeopardizing the fatui srcrets AND she makes sure they have happy lives and even checks in on them from afar cause she still cares for them like im sorry what more could she do for them 😭

also Arlecchino purposefully found ways to let the kids leave and in 7.1 so SPOILER She made an exchange with Pierro to free the house of the hearth from the fatui because she wants the kids to know what a family is and removing the most unfamily like is her first move

i feel like people have a hard time accepting the harbingers aren’t equally as bad a dottore because it was narratively a poor choice. wouldve been way more interesting if they kept the fatui more morally ambiguous instead of this whole “everyone hates dottore so the institution the traveler is teaming up with are actually the good guys too now” thing

I don't think mind wiping anyone who leaves the house of the hearth is comparable to mass human experimentation??? Like, Arle has arrangements for those who leave set up so they're not just cast out on the street with nothing and the mind wipe arguably is a mercy bc they're also not gonna be haunted by their past?? Like??? Is it messed up she's essentially running a training program for child soldiers and spies, absolutely yes, but the amount of red in her ledger isn't comparable to what Dottore and his segments racked up in theirs at all
